Stretched along Sydney’s pristine Eastern coastline, the Waverley Council oversees one of the city’s most populated areas. Though small — only 9 square kilometres — the Council undertakes the momentous task of keeping the streets and beaches clean, and the people safe. To do so, equipment worth up to $3 million dollars, such as street sweepers, garbage compactors, graffiti trucks and beach rakes need to be housed in secure depots. The Council’s recently instated Sydney Einfeld Sub Depot, located in Bondi Junction, is among the first to install a fully integrated security and management system. The service depot lacks around-the-clock supervision. With staff finishing at different shifts, the site would be left unsupervised for long stretches of time.
